Floral Extracts

Mane Kancor delivers a range of top of the line floral extracts from freshly harvested blooms of exceptional quality, coupled with sophisticated processing technology. Mane Kancor’s floral extracts enhance fragrance delivery in the end product and have a wide scope of application in cosmetics, aromatherapy and perfumery.

Floral Concretes and Floral Absolutes are obtained in a two-stage process of floral extraction. Aroma compounds from flora are difficult to recover, especially because these compounds are sensitive towards steam. To capture these breath-taking aromas, Mane Kancor carefully controls the process conditions, while isolating them using solvent extraction.

In the first stage, fresh, harvested blooms are solvent extracted to get Floral Concretes. Concretes are more true to natural fragrances and are mostly used in cosmetic applications.

In the second stage, Concrete is subjected to enrichment extraction to obtain Floral Absolutes. An Absolute is the most concentrated form of a fragrance and is mostly used in the perfume industry.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How are floral extracts obtained from flowers?

Fragrance imbued in flowers are difficult to recover, especially because it contains compounds that are sensitive to steam. Mane Kancor, however, skillfully captures these mesmerizing fragrances and isolates them using solvent extraction. The flowers undergo a two-stage process of floral extraction to obtain Floral Concretes and Floral Absolutes.

What are the differences between Floral concretes and Floral Absolutes?

During the first stage of floral extraction, freshly harvested blooms are solvent extracted to get a product popularly known in trade, as Floral concretes. Most concretes contain about 50% wax and 50% volatile absolute. Considered to be more stable and concentrated than pure essential oils, floral concretes are true to nature fragrances and are primarily used in cosmetic applications. Floral absolutes are obtained through enrichment extraction of floral concretes at the second stage of extraction. It is the most concentrated form of a fragrance, and is mostly used in the perfume industry.

How are Floral absolutes used in the Fragrance Industry?

Floral Absolutes are derived when floral concretes are subjected to enrichment extraction using polar solvents like alcohols. The waxy non polar part is insoluble in such solvents while the polar concentrated product called Floral absolutes solubilises in alcohol. Further concentration of this layer yields a more concentrated Floral absolute. A superior concentrated form of a fragrance, Floral Absolutes are popular in the perfume industry.
