Covid 19 is a universal reality. It has disrupted lives and damaged livelihoods. However, the pandemic taught us many lessons and the most important among them is mutual co-operation between people, families and communities. Many individuals and groups from different parts of the country are helping one another selflessly so that everyone can tide over the crisis. Here at Mane Kancor we have been making multiple efforts for improving lives for those around us.

In the early days of the pandemic, Mane Kancor worked hand in hand with the Angamaly municipality and the Nedumbassery panchayat by sponsoring meals through the community kitchens provided by the state government.

In partnership with a local NGO, we provided emergency relief to 6500 families of fishermen in the district of Alappuzha, Kerala. We have installed and maintained hand sanitising centres near 5 bus stations close to our facilities in Angamaly and Akkaparambu, Kerala.

Mane Kancor provided grocery kits that contain pulses, rice, cooking oil & flour, to migrant workers through the Labour department of Kerala. As part of the government of Kerala’s Virtual School Initiative, we joined hands with the Industries department to provide television sets to 40 economically challenged school children.

As part of its women’s empowerment initiatives, we supported an integrated project focusing on capacity building and livelihood generation for women of economically weaker families in Angamaly.

We are actively involved in the initiatives of the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII). The Central Gas Manifold System for Oxygen supply done in partnership with the National Health Mission (NHM) in the Government Hospital of Angamaly, is one among them. We are a lead partner in collaboration with the CII to establish a 500-bed Covid treatment centre at Adlux Convention Centre, Karukutty near Kochi, Kerala. Mane Kancor has been an integral part of the endeavour since the conceptualising and designing of the treatment centre. We supervised everything from the floor plan and getting approvals of the NHM to identifying the vendors and executing the work. The treatment centre is all set to be inaugurated virtually by the Chief Minister of Kerala.

Mane Kancor is facilitating vaccination drives for neighbourhood communities, employees, and their families in association with private hospitals. We are also supporting the Covid care activities at Government Hospitals in Fort Kochi, Kerala.

We have been providing face masks to the staff and students attending examination in schools of Byadgi, Karnataka. We have been helping the Taluk office of the region with the purchase of PPE kits/masks/sanitisers for their Covid care activities. We have also been providing computers to the Taluk office to establish and enhance their online services.

Countries and citizens have realised that vaccinations are their best shot against the Covid 19 virus. It is reassuring to watch vaccines developing and proving themselves so effectively. Safe and effective vaccines are a game-changing tool; but in the immediate future, all must continue wearing masks, cleanse our hands, and ensure indoor ventilation and social distancing. Mane Kancor is optimistic about the government initiatives and will continue our activities for the greater good.
