At Mane Kancor, we reaffirm our commitment to the planet and environmental sustainability through our annual initiative with Grow Trees. This year, the Trees for Migratory Birds™ project focuses on protecting the habitats of migratory bird species in Chilakapalem, Andhra Pradesh. In an effort to restore wetlands and support migratory birds like ducks, herons, and storks, 15,000 trees will be planted in the region.
India’s diverse bird populations are declining due to habitat loss from deforestation, wetland drainage, and urbanisation. The Trees for Migratory Birds™ project aims to plant native species such as Neem, Jamun, Pongam and Indian Tulip, known for restoring ecosystems and providing shelter and food for birds, helping reverse this decline.
This initiative also benefits local communities by creating jobs, especially for women, and supporting sustainable livelihoods. It will improve groundwater recharge, boost agricultural productivity, and reduce soil erosion. As the trees grow, they will absorb CO2, contributing to reducing air pollution.
We believe that true environmental stewardship encompasses both wildlife protection and community support. This project helps safeguard migratory birds and ensures a sustainable future for the people who live alongside them.
