Spearmint Oil

Botanical Name of Raw Material: Mentha Spicata

Spearmint, or spear mint, is a species of mint native to Europe and Asia. The essential oil of Spearmint is extracted by steam distillation of the flowering tops of the spearmint plant. The main components of this oil are Alpha Pinene, Beta Pinene, Carvone, Cineole, Caryophyllene, Linalool, Limonene, Menthol and Myrcene. The most abundant compound in spearmint oil is L-Carvone, which gives spearmint its distinctive smell. Spearmint oil also contains significant amounts of limonene, dihydrocarvone, and 1,8-cineol. It is used as a flavouring for toothpaste and confectionery and is sometimes added to shampoos and soaps. Our spearmint has Carvone 50%, 60% and 80%.
