The dried seed of the ‘Cuminum cyminum’ plant, Cumin is a member of the parsley family. The origins of this spice can be traced back to Western Asia, where it was used to preserve mummies and bring luck to newly-weds. It is oblong-shaped, pale green in colour with ridges on the surface. It has an earthy and warm bitter taste with citrusy undertones and a sweet aroma with musky and tangy undertones. It is said to offer numerous health benefits and could help control blood glucose and cholesterol levels, constipation, stress, and inflammation.
