Thymol

Thymol (also known as 2-isopropyl-5-methylphenol, IPMP) is a natural mono terpene phenol derivative of cymene, C10H14O, isomeric with carvacrol, found in oil of Ajowan, Trachyspermum ammiL. The product is obtained by the fractional distillation followed by the crystallization of ajowan oil. The product is crystalline in nature and is colourless to reddish brown in colour. Thymol is used in mouth washes, cosmetic and flavouring applications.
